CLP 4314- PSYCHOLOGY OF HEALTH AND ILLNESS

This course was the first Global Learning course I took at FIU, and it took out me out of the classroom, across the globe to Mysore India in May of 2018. This course provided an overview of the field of Psychology specifically within health and behavioral medicine. This course has a heavy emphasis on psychological, social, cultural, and global factors affecting health and healthcare policy. Here are some pictures from a couple of different opportunities my peers and I had to assist with the Public Health Research Institute of India (PHRII), as they continued on their mission on bringing basic care to rural communities in Mysore India.
CCJ 4694 HUMAN TRAFFICKING
During my time in India, my peers and I had an opportunity visit a site that combats the crisis of human trafficking. Odanadi, is an organization in Mysore that commits to rehabilitating boys and girls whom were victims of human trafficking. Upon returning from Mysore in the summer of 2018, I grew curious as to how trafficking is implemented and made the decision to take this course as my second global learning course. This course examines issues related to trafficking and immigration from an international and global perspective. I committed to respect the privacy of the kids a the Odnadi site, however here below are some pictures I took of the shelter. Some of the ladies at the shelter work at the salon, where they do other guests hair, draw hennas and I happily left their salon this day with a new henna and a new hairstyle!

This course I took summer of 2019 after I finished wrapping up my research project I conducted in Spring of 2019. I felt that this course was essential for me to take because it examined cultural contexts informing human behavior and psychological as well, internationally. This course examined psychological research through global phenomenon.

INR 4075 International Protection of Human Rights
I decided to take this course as my last global learning course in Fall of 2019. This course consists of the development of the international community with the rights of individuals and groups in mind. After being exposed to different and such invigorating cultures such as India, I was curious to further learn on what institutional mechanisms have been set up to protect individuals around the world.
