Most of our time this summer is going to be working with the staff at PHRI. The Public Health Research Institute of India, (PHRI) started as an evidence-based care institute, which focuses on healthcare access for women living in rural parts of India. Today we started our Global Health journey exploring different aspect of women's health while living in the society.
We were warmly welcomed by the entire staff with supplies we'll using for our month long stay and they introduced themselves and explained what their role at PHRI is.
We bonded over conversation and tea and to my surprise these women and us back at home have a lot in common! The day usually begins at six am (sometimes even earlier) they get ready for the work day, come home around six in the evening for dinner with their families, and get ready to do it all again the next day. Sundays are days for family and recharging for the work week. Here are some pictures of our first day at PHRI.
